2019 Warwickshire Cricket Board OSCAs

Awards for Moseley Ashfield Leaders

Last September two of the Moseley Ashfield management team were honoured by Warwickshire Cricket Board in the NatWest sponsored Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards. The citations follow below:

Angela Brown, Lifetime Achievement, Moseley Ashfield CC

Angela joined Moseley Ashfield 20 years ago with her son and since then has been integral to the organisation and promotion of the club. In that time, she has fulfilled many roles; club chair, fixtures secretary, treasurer, club welfare officer and is a lead contact with local schools and community groups. She is a ready and willing organiser of social functions and she helped to set up the All Stars programme at Ashfield in 2019.
It is true to say that without Angela’s presence, it would have been impossible to manage the resurgent youth section at Ashfield, which has grown from around 30 to over 100 children since 2016.
Angela has also been a key part of the club achieving and maintaining its Clubmark status and has sought out grants and funding from a wide variety of organisations
The Ashfield teas are legend throughout Warwickshire and Angela is again a key part of that aspect of the club. Above all else the Youth members love her.
Angela never seeks recognition or thanks for what she does, but her selfless actions have been the lifeblood of Moseley Ashfield over the years and she is most definitely worthy of this award.

Rob Green, Heartbeat of the Club, Moseley Ashfield CC

Rob is the Youth co-ordinator at the club but takes on many aspects of club life, running Under 9’s and 10’s and Under 13’s. He actively supports all other age groups. When the club was let down by a coach for All Stars Rob stepped in, took the lead and planned and delivered the programme in a very professional way. He is the reason the club now has a ladies Softball team, taking part in competitions. He plays in the adult teams and has stepped into making teas when no one else was prepared to. When a new scoreboard was required Rob made it.
Rob has re-designed coaching evenings to maximise skill development and participation for all. Rob has energised the Youth section and the club now has 100 signed up youth members. In 2019 we have been able to field 2 Under 11 sides. All teams have a designated team manager but Rob is still there to support and offer advice to all.
Rob also planned for a visit from a South African touring team helping to organise publicity, sponsorship, catering and a team to play.
Rob works tirelessly behind the scenes promoting the club, already planning for 2020.
